Bab-i Hümayün Caddesi, L, We-Su 9am-5pm

It has been the imperial enclave of the Ottoman emperors for four centuries.
This opulent palace is the subject of more colourful stories than most of the world’s palaces put together. It is lavishly decorated, with four courts of increasing grandeur. In the second court there is the entrance to the Harem (admission extra, only by joining a guided tour) and the State Treasury, housing a weaponry display. The third court has the Imperial Treasury. The views from the Fourth Court over the Bosphorus are spectacular. You can also see Prophet Mohammed's belongings. All around the palace are extravagant relics of centuries of folly, intrigue, excess and war. You need to allow at least half a day to view this palace.
Don’t miss the Imperial Treasury, including the jewel-encrusted Topkapi Dagger, the object of desire in the film Topkapi (1964), the Harem and the richly decorated buildings surrounding the reflective pool.
Price: 20 YTL (Harem 15 YTL extra), about 10 Euro.
